Can you change the sim/memory card from a US phone with a Digi-Cell phone?

Will your US phone work in Jamaica if you replace the sim/memory card?

Marko a buddy told me that she has an unlocked T Mobile and it is compatible with Digi. But I think the phone has to be unlocked to work.

It is a T-Mobile cell phone.

As long as it is a phone with a sim card (some carriers like Verizon don't use sim cards) then yes, you can use a digicel sim card in it if it is unlocked. I believe it also needs to be on the GSM network but not positive on that one.

Unlocking a phone means that it is free from being tied to one carrier and can be used with other carrier sim cards.

If it's an Iphone, the other common practice is "jailbreaking" which means that you can download apps from places other than the istore.

Call T-Mobile and ask them to give you the unlock code. We are with AT&T and I just call them and say I want it unlocked to be able to use a different sim card when we travel outside of the states. Easy, easy!!

Markospoon T-mobile may be the carrier but phone is a brand like Motorola, Samsung etc. if you take the back off lift the battery up under that is a label that has the model number mine is a letter then numbers. Maybe able to look up the brand and model number to see If it is a GSM 900/1800 to work in Jamaica or when calling to get unlocked they may tell you if it will work there. Then you can change the SIM card when you are there. Good luck!

Yes or buy an unlocked quad band phone there are places online to do that too.
