Please beware with your credit card - IrieLita+or Coopie - 01-09-2012 It finally happened! GRRRRRRRRRRR Re: Please beware with your credit card - wendy - 01-09-2012 COOPIEEEEEEEE....... you have to get the c.c bill BEFORE lita sees it mon ! ![]() Re: Please beware with your credit card - jajewel - 01-09-2012 This happened to me about a year ago when I was shopping at Progressive Foods in Ironshore. I just made a card purchase & was there the whole time & saw nothing funny going on, so not sure how it was done. They tried to make a purchase that was at first turned down (I did alert my CC co. & they said if it doesn't go through, there is nothing they can do....I thought I was safe, but, a couple weeks later a charge was again made & it did go through, so I again notified my bank & they cancelled the charge & issued me a new card, but, of course, in Ja., that is not always an easy procedure. They did do it by Express mail, so I didn't have to wait too long, maybe a week, but I had a problem before when my new card was sent by regular mail & it took almost a month.
Re: Please beware with your credit card - Yvonne - 01-09-2012 I've had my credit card # hijacked a couple of times in the last few years. I most clearly remember the recent one which was in Oct. '09. I remember because I was on jury duty at the time & didn't check my VM messages for a couple of days. By the time I listened I was a day away from my card being cancelled & I use it for EVERYTHING (FF miles). Yikes!!! All I could think of was stupid criminals since there were three $1 charges for Netflix, plus 2-3 charges for $530 something at pbjewelers.com. All I could think of was "peanut butter"??? What's up w/ that? I looked it up later & it was Palm Beach Jewelers. DOH! Got a new card & account # quickly. The only place I'd used the card in the days prior to those charges was at my local grocery store. I even checked to see if their cc system had been hijacked... nope. Just a random thing but I'd still like to know how they got the code # from the back of the card to order online. I saw a story on 60 Minutes (I think) about a town in Romania where many millionaires live who do nothing except hijack cc #s. It's the main business in town. I'm just not of that criminal mind set. The time before that the charges were for porn - LOL. THAT I remember.
Re: Please beware with your credit card - rastagirl777 - 01-10-2012 That blows. I had my card number stolen several years ago but not by a hotel or hotel deposit...I was using it at a few select places in town and I think I know which one was responsible. Now I don't use it at all. But...what choice do you really have when putting down a deposit on a hotel?? These days the card companies are cool in handling it but they do have to replace your card which can be a hassle if you have auto-charges on it or if you are about to leave the country for a period of time. Sucks as it may - turn toward the fact that you have your vacation booked and you are soon come!
Re: Please beware with your credit card - skyjuice - 01-10-2012 Hubby is an IT guy and gets paid to go hacker conferences. Supposedly there are good hackers and bad hackers. Where there is a will there is a way.
