skyauction? - Tim - 01-01-2012

Still have to search for my long hair pics, and I plan on it but for now have a question.
I think I saw Wit mention she made a purchase on skyauction.com . So Wit, have you (or anyone else) have experience making flight or hotel purchases on this site? I am thinking of a trip to Puerto Rico in March as I want to experience what appears to be some of the best tarpon fishing anywhere. I saw some really good hotel prices posted but don't want to do any transactions without hearing from a few that have used it.
If Puerto Rico doesn't pan out then I'm just gonna do a week in Florida, but I have researched it and it sounds like March weather in the keys means big time wind daily. I just have an itch to fish, plus escape what has actually been a mild winter so far.
My wife is going on a school trip to Costa Rica at easter which if I didn't feel like chaperoning a bus load of high schoolers I could go (for a low price of $3800) so we agreed I can do a week of fishing wherever. Jamaica is out though - those trips are for "us".

Tim...we've used Skyauction for the past few years and never had any problems with them. Actually...we've found some fantastic deals. One time, we won an auction for $14US for a week at a resort on the West End. Good luck and happy fishing!!!

Re: skyauction? - wit - 01-02-2012

hey Tim, I've not found any AIR worth buying. West Jet is always cheaper than skyauction.
HOTELS....yup def worth it if you read the fine print. I've won twice now. This coming April will be my second time. The room I got was regular $260 per night for 2 and I got it for $19. plus $39. plus $10 (high season). So $136.00 for 2 per night including taxes instead of $260.00.
No issues at all using skyauction. Smooth transaction.

Thanks for the responses. There are a couple "buy it now" offers for hotels that are basically half price I am interested in but they expire today so will have to wait for more to come up. My plan is to fly to Minneapolis on air miles which is a great way to get there from Saskatoon (don't use many a/m) then buy a flight to wherever I end up going. Still have to call a/m to book a flight and the seat availability will determine exactly when I will go.
