unlocked phone - mud - 12-15-2011

i have a tmoble pay as you go mobile phone.i called tmoble to ask them how to unlock it.they walked me through the process to unlock it.now that it is unlocked,do i just have to put in a new sim card in jamaica to make it work?and if so,where do i purchace one,and how much do they cost?and do they come with a new number or do i still use my old one.thanx in advance for the info.

Similar, I have a left over iPhone 4 I want to permanently unlock it so I can use it in Ja....anyone know about having an AT&T iPhone 4 unlocked?

Mud...I just called Digicel and they said a new SIM chip is $588J. I believe you can purchase one at any Digicel store!! In Negril you'll find Digicel across from Coral Seas Plaza downtown. Hope this helps!!!

At&T will not unlock the iphone. Gonna have to go the jailbreak route with that- if it is available with the software running on it. Then- will it run well or crash on you??

AT&T uses 850 and 1900. T-Mobile uses 1900. Digicel uses 900 and 1800. Sooooo for example if you have an AT&T dual band it will NOT work with Digi-- BUT if your phone is quad band it will. Just so you don't even have to think about all this stuff----- just make sure your phone is QUAD band, GSM, UNLOCKED and you are good to go.

At&t will unlock other phones(not iphone) for customers in good standing.
