Hidden Paradise vs Mariposa hotel? - JamaiKay - 12-11-2011

Trying to decide which hotel to stay at for few days in January 2012. Mariposa said they were getting back to normal but I know their wall is gone. Amazed at pics that Brenda posted about how bad the storm affected the beach along there!
Anyone have any comments on which hotel they prefer...Hidden Paradise across st from Mama Flo's or Mariposa Hideaway?
I have never stayed at either but looking for a reasonably priced safe comfortable room to stay in 1st week in January & both still have rooms available in my price range.
Comments from anyone???

I have never stayed at Mariposa but I have stayed a few times at Hidden Paradise and simply love it. I didn't think I'd like being across the road and not right on the beach. But after 20+ trips it really doesn't matter - it's just a few more steps. HP is really beautiful and quiet. The rooms are very nice and clean and the staff is outstanding. I like that Enrick, the owner, is around the property a lot and even stays there sometimes. I don't think you would be disappointed.

I never stayed at mariposa, but used to eat there quite a bit. there was a time when it could be said, hands down, gino had the best trained staff and one of the best restaurants in negril- that could be said because many of the other people who owned restaurants would go there to eat.

don't know where he used to get it, but he had real mozzarella cheese. after a month or two without, that meant a lot.

i have not been back since his death so can't say about how it is now.

I've not stayed at either sorry. In that price range and across the street is Rayon for consideration. I've not heard a single bad thing about it .

@ medi...I've been there when it was only my table and another table and waited up to a hour..But as I've said,it's expected in Jamaica so I just go with the flow!

@ macyodor...I'd NEVER spend $200 a night to sleep ANYWHERE!!!...Never been big on spending money like that on a place I Barely sleep in! My room is basically to shower and change..Don't spend much time in there at all!..all I need is Clean and Safe...I catch enough views while I'm out and about!
