Best Gift - jajewel - 11-05-2010

Was just thinking of how intrigued my Husband's nephew was with a globe I sent down with the major mass of my belongings, when I moved to Jamaica (4 pallets) I brought it down because so many Jamaicans, not just kids, seem to have no concept of the size of countries or where they are located, in relation to each other. Specifically, I brought it for a 14 yr. old youth who was interested, but I thought it a great "learning" tool to have in my home.

If any of you are shipping things down or could figure out how to carry one in your luggage (LOL), I think a globe would be a GREAT gift for anyone! Even a world map, which would, of course, be easier to carry. Geography does not seem to be a priority is school curriculum here in Jamaica.

Great suggestion Jajewel. I agree most have no idea about other countries espec Canada LOL. We are BIG (land mass wise).

Great idea...a few years back I found some globe beach balls. They too were a hit!
