Ludi - DAWN - 04-10-2011

I can hold my own at dominoes but have yet to see Ludi being played. I have seen enough ludi boards.. Anyone care to explain it?

Ha, I've spent a fair while watching my husband play ludi in the bus park in Negril, back when we were dating (he knows how to show a girl a good time!)

As far as I could tell, it's pretty much the same as Ludo, which I played as a child in the UK. Wikipedia have an entry showing the rules of play of ludo - sorry, I don't know how to do links! Each player has 4 pieces which they have to get around the board to their "home". They roll dice to see how many spaces one of their pieces can move. The first player to get all 4 of their pieces "home" wins.

I believe it's a lot like Pachisi. You try to move all 4 of your pieces to your "home" first. You can send someone back to the beginning by landing on the same space as they have one piece on. You can block a space by having two of your pieces on it.

Played if for hours and hours with my family growing up. What a great memory.
