How To Post Pictures - dreadneck - 10-24-2010

To upload photos you have to:
  • Choose file
  • Upload (just trust the process and click Preview to continue)
  • Preview
Optional - At this point you can Upload and Preview the next picture

    (done uploading?)

  • Post

First off, a big Thank You to everyone for showing patience while the kinks have been getting worked out of the photo posting functions.

You might wonder what all the fuss was about. After all, posting photos is one of the most popular activities on the board and people have been able to do this since day 1 or so.

You could create a post, link a photo from somewhere on the internet, or, upload a single photo into your post. One photo only.

The result has been in some cases, threads that seem to go on and on forever, each click refreshing the IE, Firefox, Safari or Chrome window, revealing one photo and maybe a snippet of text.

It's a pretty clunky process, and is pretty limiting as well.

Sooooooo, I took a stab at adding multiple photo posting capabilities.
It's still clunky on the front-end, but it does allow you to put multiple photos into one post. It's probably best not to put more than half a dozen or so pctures into one post or it might slow down the page loading.

"Upload" shares the same screen as "Preview", except it can't show the uploaded image, that's the job of "Preview". You can't see your picture until you Preview. Once you Preview, then you can upload the next image.

You can mix and match uploaded and linked pictures. Once uploaded, BBCode tags are generated for each picture. You can move these tag sets around and place them where you want within the text of your post, giving you way more flexibility than you had before.

Re: How To Post Pictures - Jenny - 10-24-2010

Hi, Dread - thank you for all your hard work & posting this! However, I still cannot figure out how to upload a picture from Shutterfly (sorry I keep saying this!). All of my Jamaica photos are there, is why I'm so dead-set on figuring out how to do this. I cannot upload any photos from my hard drive cuz they're all waaaay bigger than is allowed! What am I doing wrong, please?
