not about sand loss in Negril - CardBoardBox - 02-21-2022

The story below is about Brazil. (I thought it was about NJ, from the headline.)
20' of beach disappears each year.

Who here remembers when the walk from the hotel to the water was much longer? (I see no hands.) There was msg board postings of "the beach is disappearing" on the happy news site, with rebuttals of "no it's not" and eventually there were photos of water lapping at the pilings of at least one bar.

And also in history was talk of jetties, even a plan, and the discussions in town as to if it would be a good thing or a bad thing, and I believe even one place which built their own.

The main poster, one of us, said the sand comes and the sand goes away - that's nature.

Pretty much I haven't seen much change in the last 2 decades. The beach is more narrow than 1984, the depth of the water seems to less for a longer distance. The word is shallow.

Don't know how, but the one hotel/bar you no longer have to walk in the water to get by.

And if you are inclinded to read it, sure climate change is involved, but there is also the excessive amount of water pumped out of the river.
