(Bad) Reggae Joke - Firemon - 08-14-2019 If you were 8 years old when “Red Red Wine” was released. UB40 now RE: (Bad) Reggae Joke - Westenders - 08-14-2019 Lol Good one RE: (Bad) Reggae Joke - CardBoardBox - 08-14-2019 The UB40 Form was exclusively used in the United Kingdom (U.K.) to claim unemployment benefits. The form's name was subsequently used by the reggae band UB40, and now the U.K. unemployment benefit form, although similar, is called JSA, short for Jobseekers Allowance. Trivia I knew, but your pun wasn't bad. RE: (Bad) Reggae Joke - Firemon - 08-15-2019 Yeah, the band members met in line waiting to file their weekly claim. One of their early album covers (Signing Off) was a replica of the benefit form. [attachment=2904] Here's one of my favorite tracks from that album. It's an instrumental number--"12 Bar." RE: (Bad) Reggae Joke - Westenders - 08-15-2019 Just a small correction The UB40 was the card you took to the benefits office so you sign your name ‘sign on’ and then your benefits were paid by a green giro you cashed at the post office Job seekers allowance is no more It has been replaced by the oh so friendly universal credit RE: (Bad) Reggae Joke - oldtimer - 08-17-2019 Always good to listen to !!!! RE: (Bad) Reggae Joke - Westenders - 08-17-2019 Old skool ub40 great But now with there being two groups and a brother in each camp... just not the same |
