Dream Weekend - Westenders - 07-26-2018 Given that the other board is so keen to promote accurate info , not sure why the board organiser has started a thread to say no billboards in Negril and no ‘ accurate’ info on the music event. The Dream team promote all over the US, Canada and the UK and via social media, and season bands are almost sold out as of yesterday. They constantly email details out about the event too. Accurate info is available and sent out on a very frequent basis. Not sure what the board is implying, but more modern methods of promotion are used by the event organisers than billboards and website info and although Negril is the host, participants largely come from all over the world. Live night artist line up was disseminated weeks ago.... All event locations , times and dress code was also sent out weeks ago. I have never seen advance promotion in Negril and the organisers literally descend on Negril a few days earlier to start the set up Maybe the other board needs to follow the correct social media vehicles to ascertain accurate info RE: Dream Weekend - oldtimer - 07-26-2018 Yo Westie...may I ask what you are talking about. I don't understand just need some clarity on this . Does this mean that all the lovely signs are being taken down . RE: Dream Weekend - Westenders - 07-26-2018 Hay OT... no that post is an observation that there are no boards or promotion in Negril for DW, with the implied question that it may not be happening or may happen without some co-ordination My post is commenting on the fact that this festival has been promoted heavily using modern promotion methods rather than on blackboards in Negril. People in Negril definitely know what is going on from following on social media and receiving regular alerts. RE: Dream Weekend - oldtimer - 07-27-2018 gottcha !!!! RE: Dream Weekend - CardBoardBox - 07-27-2018 Now I'm confused. I should go visit the happy news site and read, but why bother with reading or understanding before commenting. Happens all the time on yahoo.com comments and many other sites. LOL. (that all is scarism, yet true too.) No billboards; you (collectively) might recall that periodically Negril signage is removed because fees were not paid to the goverment. The ban (or action) does not last long. Per chance the board organizer wants to reinforce his policy of "posting commerical type stuff requires payment", aka no free rides on that board. Or maybe it is that 'posted performers' do not always attend said music event, which would reinforce the 'accurate' part of using his msg board. People in Negril ... social media? That's a topic upon itself. RE: Dream Weekend - Firemon - 07-27-2018 I think every reggae event should be promoted by signs hand-painted in Rasta colors by hard-working Jamaicans under the shade of a palm tree between naps in a hammock and long spliff-rolling sessions with the ocean breeze passing through. Not to mention you need a guy walking the beach with a megaphone saying it's going to be "Hot, Hot, Hot." RE: Dream Weekend - oldtimer - 07-27-2018 Remember Gummy Dee ..he did 100's of the most artistic signs . RE: Dream Weekend - Westenders - 07-28-2018 Very romantic musing there Firemon But yes the times are a changing, so the ad boards may soon be a thing of the past..... RE: Dream Weekend - Aquavit - 07-29-2018 So, after reading this I went to the other board and it looks like their site is down. Couldn't help but snicker. RE: Dream Weekend - Westenders - 07-29-2018 No ‘accurate’ news on the event over there then ?! Chuckle chuckle |
