And what's more interesting (this happened in Las Vegas too, when weed was legalized there btw): There is a HUGE glut of weed in Canada. While Tim and I don't agree often, I have to agree with him here - for better and less expensive weed go to "your guy". The more Cannabis is legalized, the more the black market will thrive.

A little off topic but.. a friend complaining about how the price of weed has dropped so low,, only bringing him a grand or so a pound , . second friend is a commercial wild blueberry farmer ,, ya you got a lot to bitch about , I am lucky to get 25 cents a pound ! so it goes .

With a shortage, even temporarily, in Canada, and an excess in Jamaica, couldn't there be a one time shipment? Canada would still get their taxes, and the growers up there couldn't complain unless they are gouging the public.
Since the product gets burned up, the growers aren't going to lose one customer such as with durable goods (ie, Walkman or a Waring blender.)

There is NOT !!!!!! a shortage of cannabis in Canada . It's only at the government stores there is a shortage . The Black Market is doing just fine . 100g of premium is $3 cdn a gram on the Black Market .

Black market stuff can not enter the taxable stream. Am I correct? Else the stores would not experience their current but temporary 'out of stock' condition.
The government is missing out on taxable sales, assuming they tax the wholesale (growers), or my proposed air-shipment imports. Hence the two goverments should talk.

Let's talk taxes on weed . When the despenceries are selling weed it is against the law BUT !!!!! they are paying taxes on the weed that sell . Odd isn't it !!!!!

Clovis seems to be thinking along similar lines. Although I do think Clovis is a bit off.

the following are two off-topic but related in-style items.
A while back America (and perhaps in Africa) burned millions of $ of siezed illegal ivory (poor dead elephants) to "make a point" while I suggested (and got a poo-poo reply) that the ivory should have been sold to China. Perhaps the oversupply might have depressed the price and made poaching less desirable a profession. But burn it they did.

Decades ago I voiced that instead of burning siezed cocaine, the US government should have taken the product and undertook the role of big-time-dealer, sold the product, used the $ to pay off the national debt, then, as the main middleman, could have closed down the distribution network by just removing themselves. Low end buyers had no source, growers had no outlet.

There are flaws in this, and moral questions, but after the excessive $$ spent on trying to stop it, we have dismal results. BTW, every citizen owes $27,000 of the national debt. Nice thing to leave your children, huh?

Yeah let’s just ignore the harm poaching and hard drugs has on people, animals and the earth in general

Let the governments become dealers ? SMDH

As you can see from
Legalisation , it does not cut out the black market
Or the middle men or distribution, it’s just someone else at the helm

Not to forget the long term financial impact this has for governments, not least for the litigation hungry looking to blame and get paid

Yeah your right there is a moral stance to uphold
