Sad story, we have traveled Anchovy road a couple of times taking the slower route to Negril. Lots of areas on that road where bad stuff could happen un-noticed depending on the time of day/night

OT happened earlier on this year in September she went for a walk down some path....she flung her bag gave him started screaming and ran zig zag down the path screaming.....went back to the hotel they called the Cos she said the Cops came the next morning asked her what type of gun it was she told the Cop if he think she is an expert on guns.....she said jamaican Cops are unprofessional and a bunch of High School drop out mentaliity act really dumb. She cut her trip short and flew. I cannot believe my Mom could have been killed just like my Dad.....even though his was a drunk driver here in Canada

Who goes searching for a job in ja? Didn't grandma let her know she can't work there? And if grandma owned a hotel, why was she not bartending there? Just sounds off.

Ranie, so sorry to hear about your mother being threatened while in Negril. Seems the bad guys are gaining ground and the good guys are less trained and educated than one would hope for peace officers located anywhere. Once I thought of Jamaica as a retirement location. Now I only think of it as a vacation destination and it is a shame how much one needs to be on guard when there. People we have met (from Canada) were robbed in daylight last year and they were not newbies at all.
