Coachella music festival - Firemon - 04-15-2017 All kinds of music live streaming from California this weekend. Four stages/channels broadcasting simultaneously. Bon Iver is about to take (midnight) the stage followed by Lady Gaga. Looks like Toots & Maytals will be on channel one tomorrow (Sunday) 7:15-8:05 pm. http://live.coachella.com/ RE: Coachella music festival - Oldtimer2 - 04-16-2017 Firemon...of all the groups there how many of them have you heard tell of ? I looked at all the names and there were only 3 that I heard tell of myself . RE: Coachella music festival - Firemon - 04-16-2017 The bizarre part was how familiar the crowds were with the songs performed by all the bands you and I haven't heard of OT. Some I liked. Some I didn't...especially the DJ's who sat behind a turntable wearing headphones and lipsyching while constantly adjusting tone/reverb knobs to some monotonous beat. As for Toots, well, he took the stage in a black leather biker outfit with lots of unnecessary silver buckles and studs, a black bandana, and a pair of dark shades that he wore upside down the entire show. Not sure how they didn't fall off his face. The set list: Do the Reggay; Pressure Drop; Times Tough; Funky Kingston (w/ Toots on guitar for that one song only); Never Get Weary; Monkey Man; and Hallelujah. RE: Coachella music festival - Firemon - 04-17-2017 All kinds of highlight videos here to sample the Coachella acts. https://www.youtube.com/user/coachella/videos Musical tastes vary so I won't endorse too many clips, but I can't let these two acts/songs pass unpraised. The first is "Seasons Waiting On You" by Future Islands. The lead vocalist, Samuel T. Herring, is special with his earnest throaty performance and the band is pulsing strong. "I've been waiting on you." Damn it's good. They're from North Carolina now based out of Baltimore. Next up some energetic folk musicians from Portland, Oregon called "Joseph" who rallied the crowd with "White Flag" a song about overcoming your fears and marching on. "I'll be your army. Not gonna stop me. Never give up. Burn the white flag." |
