OT, I asked that question to many folks as we would drive or walk by the Royalton. They would just shrug or say the Royalton must have a plan?? When we were there one section opened with about 150 to 200 customers.
Construction was still ongoing but you can tell it is coming near the end as they were paving the road a few days before we left. I don't expect the light surface they were laying (1 1/2") to last long as big trucks and heavy equipment were still traversing in and out.

I joined the unofficial FB page for the Royalton in Negril. I did it to keep up with my neighbors and see what they're up to. Today I posted the water link with a very respectful note pleading with the guests to please consider that water a scarce natural resource. I got booted off the site within minutes. I tried, lol.

Statistics, from memory, hotel water consumption may account for up to 31 % of their expenses. (Don't remember when or where, other than long ago about Negril.) Foreign(ers) might not care since some hotels are charging mega-bucks, but I've always practiced "Navy showers; wet down, do the washing, then rinse off."
This started for me in the early days (84, 89, in Negril) when capacity was less than requirements. (not enough water to go around.) Droughts are especially important times anywhere.
At home, all bets are off. Love a hot, 15 minute shower.

been home two weeks now . . . first time ever my hotel shut off the water early evening and did not put it back on till 6 a.m.
