If something I read elsewhere is true, I find it sickening to hear that the tourist was chosen at random as part of a gang initiation. Human life has no value for these assholes.

There are SO many stories rolling around regarding motive.  The more its not discussed "officially" the more stories come out.  It shouldn't matter, dead is dead but certain stories make one "feel better" about their own safety...certain stories that do not include "robbery gone bad" or "gang initiation".

Like every other murder in the area, we may never know the motive.  The taking of another human life under most circumstances is a sickening thing.

If the police and NCC want to stop the rumours and help relieve the fears of tourists then they should be a little more forthcoming. I'm pretty sure that between the girl friend, the father and the accused guy in lock-up the police know a lot more than they are telling. The longer they hold back the worse it will get for business IMHO.
