crosswalks and speed bumps.. - oldtimer - 02-24-2016 On the news last night and in the paper this morning ,Halifax Nova Scotia has put out the idea of using raised cross walks that will double for speed bumps . There are certain areas in Halifax that speeding is a big problem in residental settings .Great idea eh !!! RE: crosswalks and speed bumps.. - Sharleen - 02-24-2016 My little twins  boys father was killed a couple of weeks ago, due to a speeding driver: http://www.timesunion.com/local/article/Another-pedestrian-killed-on-Route-9-in-Saratoga-6761226.php My ex-husband had to break the news to them & they cried for three hours straight.  Damon went to the restaurant where his sister worked with his long time friend & his sister asked him to go across the street to buy her a pack of cigarettes.  He was hit while crossing a busy road, he was pretty much horrifically injured.  His sister who was at the scene can't even sleep at night, once she shuts her eyes all she sees is the horrible injuries he received.  When his Dad went to identify his body, they would't even let him see his head, they had it all wrapped up.  Even on my country-country street, there is a huge amount of teenagers driving in a 30 mph street at like, 50 mph.  I live on a street with a huge hair pin turn, which comes just over directly at my driveway.  Every time I exit my home I am scared!     Thanks in advance for listening to my painful tale of whoa.  I am trying to get the  money together to take the twins to Jamaica, they have never yet seen the ocean. I guess this shows my age but most drivers not just the young seem be too much in a hurry and far to distracted with their phones. In store parking lots the drive like they were on the highway. I see so many Bozos driving around it is amazing. Basically where is a traffic cop when you really need one? I guess attending to the accidents caused by the careless drivers.
