Four shot in Hanover; 2 foreigners injured - Passion4Diving - 08-16-2015
The Gleaner has a story about 4 people by shot recently in Hanover while in a mini cooper car that was suddenly block by another car then someone from the blocking car opened fire at the 4; killing one. Two of the four were foreign nurses who remain in hospital as does the third passenger.

Hanover parish has many resorts including several along Long Bay, Bloody Bay and Lucea.

feel very bad or the injured . . . and sad for the death . . .
we as foreigners have to be mindful the company we keep . . .
and late night travel . . . why put ourselves in harms way? after all, we are in a third world country where there is a disregard for the law never mind the poverty . . .

NEGRIL, Westmoreland — The body of a 15-year-old student was yesterday found in her bed with a bullet wound to her head at her home in West End, Negril.
The schoolgirl's killing has pushed the murder tally in the parish to 60 since the start of the year, almost doubling the number for the same period last year.

A strong contingent of police and soldiers had to be deployed to the area after unruly residents firebombed an old ambulance parked on the hospital premises, hurled stones which broke out the back glass of a police service vehicle, used debris to block the entrance to the hospital, and set fire on a section of the hospital compound between Friday night and Saturday morning.
On Saturday morning the protesters pelted the hospital premises with Molotov cocktails.

As we are narrowing down our location options for a winter vacation Pam mentioned returning to Negril. I just don't know if the desire is there anymore.

In my book, a measure of a community and country development is how good law-abiding habits form within their society.
For me, it looks like the Western Parishes have made a definite step backwards. I still see that life within a resort is stable but I did enjoy exploring and now giving that a major second thought which hurts the local economy but my safety comes first.
