US$30-m MoBay ferry service, terminal - JonTom - 05-07-2014 Article states a ferry service to start by next March (good luck with that!) from MoBay to both Negril and Ocho Rios. Only the terminal in MoBay is mentioned though one would think a terminal would be needed in all 3 locations wouldn't it? I suppose the Ochi Cruise Ship Terminal might be used in some way - have no clue on such things. http://www.jamaicaobserver.com/business/US-30-m-MoBay-ferry-service--terminal_16616290 RE: US$30-m MoBay ferry service, terminal - JonTom - 05-07-2014 A video found by searching the company name: While it does use some pretty fancy graphics in this promotional/conceptual video, there are a couple of issues I have: 1) those tourists wear way more (and heavier/longer) clothes than I've ever seen in JA 2) at 2:15 in the clip, those cars are driving on the RIGHT side of the road! OK - didn't find anything officially linking this video to the co. in the article, and it doesn't actually say Montego Bay ferry terminal in the video - but come on, that is a Jamaican flag flying over the terminal in the video. Thanks for posting! RE: US$30-m MoBay ferry service, terminal - booger - 05-07-2014 I'll pass real quick. Too commercial for me, especially since my driver already provides an amazing service. Zero interest here..... RE: US$30-m MoBay ferry service, terminal - kylake - 05-08-2014 I think coming in by water at least one time would make for an interesting transfer from a new prespective. RE: US$30-m MoBay ferry service, terminal - Coconut - 05-08-2014 I might try it... only on my way in to Negril because I would be paranoid of missing my plane on the way out. I don't know. Seems a little pie in the sky. The recent ferry sinking in the news, makes me rethink. RE: US$30-m MoBay ferry service, terminal - daniel - 05-08-2014 Ferry service can only be succesful if it saves time or money. I dont see either in the proposed routes. what they really are offering is a 300 person excursion boat , at 50 mph . crazy!!! RE: US$30-m MoBay ferry service, terminal - Oldtimer2 - 05-09-2014 There is no way in the world that these boats can go 50 MPH . We build modified racing boats here and they are 18-20 ft long and have barely anything holding them together and are pushing 800-1,000 hp and we only go 60 mph. Don't believe it !!! RE: US$30-m MoBay ferry service, terminal - kylake - 05-09-2014 I agree with you on the speed OT since these are catamarans. The only big ferry I have ever been on the could run that speed was a hydroplane boat called Sea Jet Kara that had a turbine engine and used to run from West Palm Beach, Fl to the Bahamas. It was a nice ride and you could get to Grand Bahamas in about 45 minutes. |
