RE: Mary Mary quite contrary How does your garden grow? - wendy - 06-18-2014 HAHAHAHAHA....your story is GREAT ! mi think i would of been on your husbands side about the holes YES, more pics....not hogging the thread at all, just being PROUD RE: Mary Mary quite contrary How does your garden grow? - rootswoman - 06-18-2014 I am not sure yet - I read that one should dig them up, but winters are pretty mild here. I will learn. I planted a few tubers - a bit late so not sure what will happen and a couple small dahlias I picked up with some other annuals. It is a shame that you lost some. I have a ton of Dahlia pictures from my old neighbor in LA - he raised the most beautiful dahlias and i was quite obsessed with thaking pictures of them We have been to the Tulip Festival two years now and it is really amazing - i dont think I shared any of this years pictures - ill did gsome of those out too. I am really excited about the Dahlia festival - you may just have to put Oregon in August on your bucket list! RE: Mary Mary quite contrary How does your garden grow? - Sophie - 06-18-2014 Wow- beautiful everyone. And Coconut, you are hella funny. You might want to try on Chip & Dale what I did with the damn squirrrels on my bird feeder. I snuck around the corner and WHACKED them on the ass with a crappie pole. Now- if I thought cat poop on my bird feeder would work I would borrow some from somebody. RE: Mary Mary quite contrary How does your garden grow? - Coconut - 06-19-2014 [attachment=805]Oh Chip and Dale... my mind instantly went in the gutter! I think it is because I read Ian Ziering (from 90210) fame is now a Chippendale at the age of 50. I always did like his smile.... Anyhow... I was moving through old pics to bring by and I realized Chip and Dale have cost my garden, dearly. I think I'm gonna head over to the greenhouse after this post... After the rabbit issue, where he razed my lilies, my husband brough home a live release trap. The only think we caught was a chipmunk and I set him free... *smh* So - sadly, I have a gap of pics for '13. Not sure why. But you've inspired me to document my garden this year! Here are just a couple of other pics... so as not to hog the thread! RE: Mary Mary quite contrary How does your garden grow? - Coconut - 06-19-2014 [attachment=807] RE: Mary Mary quite contrary How does your garden grow? - rootswoman - 06-19-2014 Oh wow! Those are beautiful! Dont worry - there is no such thing as thread hogging over here. I personally, can never see enough flower pics. Now Wait, How can that kid be 50! Now I realize it was 24 years ago when I used to watch that darn show because it was one of the few shows that played in English in Greece, where I was living at the time. Good lord - time is passing... RE: Mary Mary quite contrary How does your garden grow? - Coconut - 06-19-2014 Greece!??!?!?!?! Wow RW! WOW! I'd like to see pics of that! Ok - hang on to your hat, check out this link and the pics! http://blog.chron.com/celebritybuzz/2014/06/ian-ziering-makes-chippendales-comeback-at-50/ RE: Mary Mary quite contrary How does your garden grow? - wendy - 06-19-2014 LOVELY pics coco... hey RW, lets see your tubers from the other house RE: Mary Mary quite contrary How does your garden grow? - rootswoman - 06-25-2014 Its hard to keep up this board is getting lively Now WTF guys. I just watched a squirrel eat the tops off my dalias. Right in fronnt of me. I have about 5 small dahlias and the tops are missing! Grrrrr! Now I planted 9 of the bg expensive tubers in one of our vegetable beds -how the heck am i going to keep the squirrels away - i dont have any cat shit.... Wendy - ill find those pictures if i ever get caught up around this internet. coco -i msut have some greece pics some where but nothing easy at the moment - id love to show pics of the beautiful island i lived on - one day - (maybe some months from now) ill find some - its a promise. RE: Mary Mary quite contrary How does your garden grow? - Coconut - 06-26-2014 RW! WTF!!!! Laughing with you (hopefully!) not at you! Rotten peckers... Well, seeing as how you don't have any cat shit (!), two things spring to mind: 1. Sunlight dish soap and water misted on lightly (overcast and in the evening) so the next time they think they want a dahlia bud for lunch they'll get their mouth washed out with soap! #2. Only in dire straights, it's the equivalent of fart bomb in your garden and I have done this but ... only in emergencies and... well, it looks like you enjoy your garden and this will render it off limits for a few days... I used neem oil with some chopped garlic and cayenne pepper powder. Whew! I tell you - it worked to keep US away. You have to dilute with water and you will want to have gloves on your hands (learned that the hard way...). Give everything a spray, works for rodents and any kind of bug that might be setting up shop in your garden. Also makes the leaves nice and shiny. Squirrels... I'll be... hmmmm... One year they were on our deck eating our cherry tomatoes, the interesting off shoot of that was they pooped the seeds into all kind of interesting spots where we got tomato plants the following year. Ahhhh Mother Nature! Please, no rush on the pics!! I'll be here... |
