Wonder just how many people found an "extra" drink on their tab during that time frame? Unbelievable that "someone" would feel so entitled as to treat others that way.

I LOVE Tulum.....cant wait to go back someday-esp if i can get a decent fare on virgin airlines NON_STOP to cancun...

I was able to get Delta nonstop from LAX for $440 roundtrip. Unfortunately Virgin America was $571 for the same flight. We are hitting Isla Mujeres but might do a day trip down to Tulum. Freaking beach hotel prices are crazy. If you want AC you are going to pay for it........ Over $400 at The Beach a night after tax is thrown in. You can stay in town for a reasonable price, however it's not on the water as you are aware. Probably hit Tulum next year if we thoroughly enjoy Isla.
I have one more Negril trip booked and than I'm probably throwing in the towel. Not done with Jamaica however......

I've stayed silent but this seems to be a "theme" over here lately. Hey, look I can understand, everyone gets bored or frustrated by doing the same thing over and over again and need change - different parts of Jamaica, different countries etc. Before you know it Negril will be just like it was 10+ years ago...nice and more quiet, lol.

Seeing this coming from Booger though does have me a bit puzzled. Seems to have come out of the blue (unless I'm missing something). With others I see the frustration build, more negative comments about the place than positive, etc. But Booger, you have always been such a cheerleader for Negril. Now, I don't know your history with the place - when you first started visiting, how long you visit for, how often you come down in a year, where you like to stay or what your ties are to the community are- but I'd be very interested in knowing why exactly you are "throwing in the towel" - that statement tells me that something happened recently and that you are giving up on what used to be a special vacation destination for you. If you like please email me - granted its none of my business I know that and I promise I will not make any judgements - really, to each his own when it comes to spending your hard earned dollars on a vacation. Its just that in your particular case I'm getting strong hunches as to what your deal MIGHT be based on recent posts on this board but I'd like to hear it from you. I find this love-hate-lovetohate relationship with Negril fascinating!

I usually do not return back to a vacation destination unless it really captures me, which Negril definitely did. Hell, I went 7 times in two years...... After repeat trips I grew to know people a little better and have in fact been turned off by some characters, some expat and some local. Last thing I want to deal with is any sort of drama, especially while on vacation. And this last trip had way too much and I do not see things getting better. The only reason I am going back once more is because it was already booked prior to the last trip.

I like the laid back nature of the South Coast and really am intrigued with a road trip starting in Kingston heading to Portie and parts beyond.

So my next trip is Mexico, probably back to Belize after that, or maybe even Tulum. Depends how well my Spanglish carries me on our next trip.......
